WAR 2019 Movie Reviews & Ratings
WAR 2019 Movie Reviews & Ratings: If we told you that the Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff starrer War was actually directed by Abbas-Mustan, and not Siddharth Anand, you’d believe us by the end of the 2-hour-34-minute action thriller. Such are the twists and turns.
A particular scene where Hrithik Roshan aka Kabir literally drives off an about-to-crash Army plane in a Jeep quite like Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham’s Race 2 makes it extra believable. But then, it is no Abbas-Mustan film; it’s Aditya Chopra all the way. And quite frankly, the result of all the pent-up Dhoom 4 energy. We feel ya, Adi. We’re not complaining.
WAR 2019 Movie Trailer Reviews
The highly-anticipated collaboration between action stars Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff will come to fruition on October 2 with War, trailer to which was unveiled on Tuesday morning. Apart from the two lead actors, the film stars Vaani Kapoor as the leading lady and Ashutosh Rana in a supporting role.
The trailer opens with special agent Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), who has suggestively gone rogue and is fighting against his own nation. A company official suggests that Kabir needs to be brought in immediately or simply be killed. But is anyone capable of locating and capturing Kabir, let alone killing him?
Enter Tiger Shroff, who is made in-charge of the team meant to bring Kabir down. A conversation between the two follows where there is a hint that Kabir and Tiger’s character Khalid were teacher and pupil once but are not anymore, owing to Kabir’s actions.
What follows next is an intense cat and mouse chase between Hrithik and Tiger, the latter hell-bent on countering the former’s each and every move. The second half of the trailer also shows a bit of camaraderie between the two characters, hinting they might look for a partner in one another to bring down the larger force manipulating them.
Vaani’s role in the film is seeming of a casino performer and entertainer. It does not become clear as to how she gets entangled between Khalid and Kabir, but Hrithik can be seen romancing her in a few shots.
WAR 2019 Movie Story
India’s super-soldier Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) goes rogue after killing his handler on an assassination mission. Kabir’s protégé Khalid (Tiger Shroff) is tasked with tracking his mentor down and bringing him to justice.
Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) is an experienced Indian intelligence agent and mentor to his squad, which includes Khalid (Tiger Shroff). Together, they make a powerful team but things seem to change after a mission doesn’t go quite as planned. Kabir seems to have gone rogue and Khalid is put in charge of tracking him down. As the manhunt begins and both mentor and mentee face off against each other, the chase reveals dangerous and shocking secrets.
Hrithik and Tiger coming together meant that a power-packed and high octane action film was in store. War is exactly that. We couldn’t possibly imagine any other duo pulling off what they offer in this film.
Both icons in their own right, their combination is explosive as Bollywood’s Greek god and martial arts master team up to do what they do best. They’re battling in epic action sequences, showing off their chiseled bods, and even busting a smooth move.
Most of all, the War duo delivers because they are well directed and brilliantly choreographed in fight sequences, thrilling high-speed chases, and high-stakes stunts. Director Siddharth Anand teamed up with four of the top action directors (Paul Jennings, Franz Spilhaus, SeaYoung Oh and Parvez Shaikh) and it shows. The film’s first half already delivers everything we could ask for and it is only amplified in the second half, eventually culminating with a thrilling one-on-one fight. What’s more, in between all that powerful action, there’s also a sprinkling of humor, an unforgettable dance number with the dance icons themselves, and a few twists along the way.

Two stars and firm favorites of the action genre, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, lock horns in War. It’s a juicy proposition for fanboys and girls of both actors. A sort of millennial throwback to the 90s showdown between Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff in Subhash Ghai’s Khalnayak.
But apart from this talking-point premise, War serves up a lot more for the action-movie buffs. It has lots of stunts, thrills, twists and just enough masala and explosions to keep you engaged in the first half, but once the big reveals happen in the second half of the story, it goes awry. Where the film excels in action set pieces, it genuinely falls short on the story front.
