When it’s Rohit Shetty, coming together with superstar Akshay Kumar, with Katrina Kaif as the female lead and special appearances by Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, you know you’re in for a ride. Sooryavanshi, the newest cop in Rohit Shetty’s cinematic universe is a film based on the life of an ATS officer who puts his personal life on the line to save Mumbai from an impending terror attack.
An intense trailer explaining why there is a chaos amongst the squad, Sooryvanshi kickstarts with a serious tone as we are introduced to our lead and his small family. Katrina plays his wife and has an emotional scene that gives you a glimpse into the life of many wives who sacrifice endlessly and risk their lives for their husbands.
Taking a detour from the initial tone, the trailer dives into the signature background score and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba makes a grand entry. He single-handedly brings up the energy of the trailer cracking jokes and lightening the mood that has been set. Making an even grander entry, Singham comes to everyone’s rescue and the short banter between the three cops is the highest point of the trailer.
Serious, fun and informative, the trailer will keep you hooked till the last seconds. But needless to say who will snap out of it the minute the credits roll out. The dialogues aren’t as hard-hitting and don’t stay with you, though the film has a brilliant message about how Muslims in the country are seen. Relevant and topical, the film had Shetty’s essence smeared all over it but we’ll have to wait and watch what the man will do differently this time. Till then take a look at this star-studded trailer.
Earlier, it was speculated that Sooryavanshi was a remake of Tamil hit Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, which Starring Karthi and Rakul Preet in the lead roles. It was being said that the film will not be a scene-by-scene remake and the script will be modified to suit the sensibilities of the Hindi audience.
However, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to rubbish the news as untrue and baseless. He quoted a statement from Rohit, which said that Sooryavanshi was an original story and not inspired by any film.
